Brief Information

The Indian Army has invited online applications from unmarried male graduates holding an NCC 'C' Certificate for Short Service Commission (Non-Tech) entry under the NCC Special Entry Scheme, 125th Course starting April 2027. This route lets NCC 'C' Certificate holders skip the written exam (CDS) and go straight to the SSB interview. Wards of Battle Casualties of Army personnel can also apply under a separate quota, without needing an NCC certificate.

Age Limit

This age criterion applies equally to Wards of Battle Casualties. Age relaxation, wherever otherwise applicable under Government of India rules, will be as per standing norms — the date-of-birth recorded in the Matriculation/Secondary certificate at the time of application is final and cannot be changed later.

Educational Qualification

• Bachelor's Degree (any discipline) or an equivalent qualification from a recognised university.
• Final-year students may also apply, provided they complete their graduation before the course begins. For such candidates, the aggregate percentage of the first two/three years (for 3-/4-year courses) counts for shortlisting.
• Minimum 'B' Grade in the NCC 'C' Certificate exam is mandatory for General category applicants. A provisional NCC 'C' Certificate is acceptable at the time of application but must be upgraded to the final certificate before appearing at the SSB — provisional certificates are not accepted at the SSB itself.
• Minimum 2–3 years of service (as applicable) in the Senior Division/Wing of NCC.
• Wards of Battle Casualties need the same educational qualification but do not need an NCC 'C' Certificate.

Eligibility Criteria

• Marital Status: Open only to unmarried male candidates. Marrying any time after submitting the application — even after clearing SSB or medicals — disqualifies a candidate from training.
• Nationality: Citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal, or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from specified countries with the intent to settle permanently in India (eligibility certificate required for these categories, except Nepal-origin Gorkha subjects).
• One SSB only: A candidate can appear for only one of the two related SSB interviews in this cycle — either SSC(NT)(Men)-125 as a CDSE candidate, or NCC (Special) Entry-125 (Men). An undertaking to this effect is mandatory in the online declaration.
• Wards of Battle Casualties must additionally hold a Battle Casualty certificate from the Manpower (Policy & Planning) Directorate or respective Regimental Records confirming the parent was killed, wounded, or reported missing in action.

Vacancy Details

The Indian Army reserves the right to shortlist candidates for SSB using a vacancy-to-call-up ratio based on organisational requirements — holding a graduate degree qualifies you to apply, but does not by itself guarantee an SSB call.

Selection Process

1. Application Shortlisting — based on bonus marks out of 100: up to 50 marks for NCC 'C' Certificate grade (A Grade = 50, B Grade = 25) and up to 50 marks for graduation percentage (scaled from 0 marks below 60% to 50 marks for 85%+).
2. SSB Interview — a 5-day, two-stage process at Prayagraj, Bhopal, Bengaluru, or Jalandhar. Candidates who clear Stage I proceed to Stage II; those who don't clear Stage I are sent back the same day.
3. Medical Examination — for candidates recommended after Stage II.
4. Merit List — prepared from SSB marks; ties are broken first by age (older ranked higher), then by qualifying exam percentage.
5. Joining Letter — issued in merit order, subject to vacancies and meeting all eligibility conditions, for Pre-Commission Training at OTA Chennai.

How to Apply

1. Visit the official website joinindianarmy.nic.in.
2. Click 'Officer Entry Application/Login', then 'Registration' (skip if already registered).
3. Complete the registration form after reading the instructions carefully.
4. Log in, click 'Apply Online' under the Dashboard.
5. On the Officers Selection – Eligibility page, click 'Apply' against Short Service Commission NCC Special Entry Course.
6. Fill in personal information, communication details, education details, and previous SSB details, clicking 'Save & Continue' after each section.
7. Review everything on the 'Summary of your information' page and edit if needed.
8. Click 'Submit' only after confirming every detail is correct.
9. Take two printouts of the submitted application (with Roll Number) 30 minutes after the application window closes — keep one for your own reference.

Note: No changes are allowed to the application after final submission and closure of the window, so verify CGPA-to-percentage conversion, name, and date of birth (as per Matriculation certificate) carefully before submitting.

General Instructions

• Carry originals plus self-attested copies of all documents (application printout, Matriculation certificate, 12th certificate, degree/provisional degree, all semester mark sheets, NCC 'C' Certificate, CGPA conversion certificate) to the SSB interview — DigiLocker certificates are not accepted in place of originals.
• Final-year candidates must submit proof of passing their degree, along with all mark sheets, to the Directorate General of Recruiting by 1 April 2027, failing which their candidature is cancelled.
• Candidates already serving in the Armed Forces must inform their Commanding Officer in writing and carry a countersigned application to the SSB.
• Only one online application is permitted per candidate; multiple applications lead to cancellation.
• Training duration is 49 weeks at Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai, with a stipend of ₹56,100 per month during training.
• Post-commissioning rank is Lieutenant, with an approximate CTC of ₹17–18 lakh per annum (excluding free medical cover and one annual home-town travel concession).
• In case of any discrepancy between the English and Hindi versions of the official notification, the English version prevails.
