Eligibility Criteria (Age Limit & Qualification)
1. Age Limit (as on 05.08.2026)
Candidates must be minimum 18 years and maximum 30 years of age for UR & EWS categories.
- SC / ST: 35 Years (5 Years relaxation)
- OBC-NCL: 33 Years (3 Years relaxation)
- Ex-Servicemen: As per Government norms.
- Departmental Candidates: No upper age limit.
2. Educational & Statutory Qualification
A. Mining Sirdar (T&S Grade C):
- Matriculate (10th Pass) from a recognized Board.
- Valid Mining Sirdarship Certificate of Competency issued by DGMS.
- Valid Gas Testing Certificate AND Valid First Aid Certificate.
- (OR) Matriculate + Degree or Diploma in Mining Engineering + Valid Overman Competency Certificate (DGMS) + Gas Testing + First Aid Certificate.
B. Surveyor (Mining) (T&S Grade B):
- Matriculate (10th Pass) from a recognized Board.
- Valid Surveyors’ Certificate of Competency (SCC) granted under Coal Mines Regulation 2017.
- (OR) Degree or Diploma in Mining/Mine Surveying Engineering + Valid SCC.
Application Fee
Candidates need to pay a non-refundable application fee through online mode only:
- General / OBC-NCL / EWS: ₹ 1180/- (₹ 1000 + ₹ 180 GST)
- SC / ST / Ex-Servicemen / Departmental Candidates: Nil (Exempted)
Selection Process & CBT Exam Pattern
NCL will select candidates based on their relative score in the Computer Based Test (CBT), followed by Document Scrutiny/Verification.
Exam Pattern
The CBT will consist of 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) for 100 marks. The duration will be 90 minutes. The paper will be bilingual (Hindi & English).
- Section A: Technical knowledge (Discipline-related) - 70 Marks
- Section B: General Knowledge, Awareness, Reasoning, and Quantitative Aptitude - 30 Marks
Note: There is NO negative marking for wrong answers.
Minimum Qualifying Marks
- UR / EWS: 50 Marks
- SC / ST / OBC-NCL / ESM: 40 Marks
