CTET September 2026 – Overview

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Delhi has released the official Information Bulletin for CTET – September, 2026. The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) is a mandatory eligibility test for candidates who wish to teach in Central Government Schools including KVS, NVS, Central Tibetan Schools, and schools under Union Territories. It is conducted as per the provisions of the Right to Education (RTE) Act, 2009 and NCTE guidelines.

Candidates can apply online through the CTET official website ctet.nic.in or CBSE website cbse.gov.in from 11 May 2026 to 10 June 2026. The examination will be held on 06 September 2026 (Sunday).

The exam date (05 or 06 September) will be allotted to candidates on a random basis by CBSE — no request for change of date or exam city will be accepted. 🎓 Eligibility Criteria – CTET 2026

The minimum qualifications for appearing in CTET are as notified by NCTE. Candidates are advised to visit ncte.gov.in to verify their eligibility. As per NCTE notification, SC/ST/OBC/Differently-abled candidates are eligible for a relaxation of up to 5% in the qualifying marks of the minimum educational qualification.

📌 CTET Applicability: CTET applies to schools of the Central Government (KVS, NVS, Central Tibetan Schools) and schools under UTs of Chandigarh, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, and NCT of Delhi. CTET may also apply to unaided private schools affiliated to CBSE. Qualifying CTET does NOT confer any right on a person for Recruitment/Employment — it is only one of the eligibility criteria for appointment.

📝 CTET 2026 – Exam Pattern & Structure

All questions in CTET will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) with four alternatives. Each question carries 1 mark and there is NO negative marking. The question paper will be bilingual (Hindi & English).

⚠️ Note: A candidate who intends to teach both levels (Classes I–V and Classes VI–VIII) must appear in both Paper-I and Paper-II. Candidates applying for Paper-II who do NOT mention the subject offered (Maths & Science OR Social Science) will be rejected and fee forfeited.

✅ Qualifying Marks & CTET Certificate

  • As per NCTE Notification, a candidate who scores 60% or more (i.e., 90 out of 150 marks) in the CTET exam will be considered as CTET Passed.
  • SC/ST/OBC/Differently-abled candidates may receive concession in qualifying marks as per the reservation policy of the school management.
  • Validity of CTET Certificate: The CTET qualifying certificate is valid for a Lifetime for all categories.
  • There is no restriction on the number of attempts. A person who has already qualified CTET may also appear again to improve his/her score.
  • CBSE will provide CTET mark-sheets and eligibility certificates in Digital Format via DigiLocker. The documents will be digitally signed and legally valid as per the IT Act.

💻 How to Apply for CTET September 2026

  • Step 1: Visit the official CTET website at https://ctet.nic.in or CBSE website https://www.cbse.gov.in.
  • Step 2: Click on the "Apply Online" link.
  • Step 3: Fill the Authentication Form with State, Identity type, Name, Date of Birth, Gender, and Security PIN.
  • Step 4: Fill the complete Online Application Form and choose a password. Note down the Registration/Application Number generated.
  • Step 5: Upload scanned images of your latest photograph (10–100 KB, JPG/JPEG, 3.5 cm × 4.5 cm) and signature (3–30 KB, JPG/JPEG, 3.5 cm × 1.5 cm).
  • Step 6: Pay the examination fee via Debit Card / Credit Card / Net Banking.
  • Step 7: Print the Confirmation Page for record and future reference. The confirmation page is NOT required to be sent to CTET Unit.
⚠️ Critical Points While Applying:
  • Enter Name, Father's Name, Mother's Name and Date of Birth exactly as per Class X certificate.
  • Submit only ONE application — multiple applications will lead to cancellation of candidature.
  • Online correction is available from 15–18 June 2026 (only once, and not for exam city).
  • Fee once paid will NOT be refunded under any circumstances.
  • Keep your mobile number and Email ID active throughout the process — all CTET alerts will be sent there.

📋 Important Exam Day Instructions

  • Candidates must report at the examination centre 120 minutes before the commencement of examination — at 07:30 AM for Paper-II and 12:30 PM for Paper-I.
  • Candidates arriving after 09:30 AM (Paper-II) or 02:30 PM (Paper-I) will NOT be permitted to appear.
  • Candidates must bring their own Ball Point Pen (Black/Blue) — pen will NOT be supplied by CBSE. Pencil use is strictly prohibited on OMR sheet.
  • Downloaded e-Admit Card is mandatory — no candidate without a valid Admit Card will be permitted.
  • Prohibited items inside the exam hall: Mobile phones, Bluetooth, Earphones, Calculator, Wristwatch, Wallet, Handbag, Whitener, Eraser, Pen drives, and any electronic device.
  • Candidates must sign the attendance sheet twice — once at commencement and again while handing over the OMR sheet.
  • Candidates are permitted to carry the Test Booklet after the completion of the test, but must hand over the OMR sheet to the invigilator before leaving.

Q1. What is the last date to apply for CTET September 2026?

Ans: The last date for online application submission and fee payment is 10 June 2026 before 11:59 PM. The application window opened on 11 May 2026. Candidates should not wait till the last date to avoid server congestion.

Q2. What is the exam date for CTET September 2026?

Ans: The exam is scheduled for 06 September 2026 (Sunday). If the number of candidates increases, the exam may also be conducted on 05 September 2026 (Saturday). The date will be allotted by CBSE on a random basis.

Ans: The online correction facility will be available from 15 June 2026 to 18 June 2026. This facility will be provided only once. Corrections are allowed in name, DOB, category, paper opted, subject for Paper-II, languages opted, and correspondence address — but not in exam city.

Q10. Where will the CTET mark sheet and certificate be available?

Ans: CBSE will provide CTET mark-sheets to all candidates and eligibility certificates to qualifying candidates in Digital Format via DigiLocker. The DigiLocker account will be created automatically and credentials sent to the registered mobile number. The certificates will be digitally signed and legally valid as per the IT Act.
